Our sales people look after our relationships with corporate and institutional investors. They generate revenue for GBM by ensuring each client is kept up to speed with all the latest investment and trading opportunities – in equities, currencies, interest rates or credit.
As soon as you start the programme, you will work on the sales desk that most suits your skills and interests. Once your initial training is complete, you will then work and learn from the best. We believe in giving you as much exposure as possible: within six months of arrival, you could be managing your own portfolio of clients.
Make no mistake, it is pressurised work. But if you can rise to the challenge, it is a hugely rewarding role. We have a relatively flat management structure, which means you could be running a team within a matter of years. There’s real variety to the role as well. Whether you are preparing pitches, meeting clients or working with other parts of the business to create product solutions, you’ll face new challenges all the time.
What we look for
Confident, tenacious and equipped with first-rate communication skills, you will know how to build strong relationships with clients – both face-to-face as well as over the phone. Since you’ll often be discussing complex products, you’ll also need to be numerate, analytical and have a sound grasp of the financial markets.
