No ordinary Marketing department
We’re no ordinary Marketing department. We’re one of the largest in the country backed by a £multi-million budget. The pace of change here is incredibly fast, so life here is as challenging as it is rewarding. But if you’re hard-working, energetic and committed, this is an opportunity to work on major brands across a wide product range, and to be part of a team where the development of people is paramount.

Best known brands
Within UK Retail, Marketing & Consumer Products comprises a wide variety of teams, all working closely with our Retail Products team and different areas across the business to deliver excellent propositions, communications and service for our customers. You’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the country’s best known brands including RBS and NatWest.

A hotbed of opportunity

A recent injection of experienced marketing professionals from a variety of industries means you’ll be able to tap into a wealth of knowledge and experience.  What’s more, whilst the culture here is fast-paced and dynamic, our priority is always our people. We’ve recently developed a Marketing Academy to ensure our people can constantly grow and gain the kind of specialist skills that will enable them to add even more value to their role. And because we have a close network of graduates, you’ll always have colleagues to turn to for less formal support.

Two years – varied placements
The programme itself lasts two years. During that time you’ll undertake a range of placements in different departments, each lasting six months. It means this is a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and constantly develop. The teams in Marketing & Consumer Products are so varied that you can expect to learn a lot in a short amount of time. It will be challenging, but if you can stay up to date and constantly adapt to a fast-paced and ever-changing market, the scope to add real value is vast. Put simply, this programme has been designed to develop world-class marketing or product managers.

Test your talent at the highest level

How many schemes offer graduates the chance to get actively involved in optimising high profile sponsorship deals such as the Six Nations Rugby Tournament, NatWest Cricket, the O2 or the Edinburgh Military Tattoo? In the past 12 months, our graduates have been involved in projects as varied as the new NatWest ‘Helpful Banking’ TV adverts as well as the development of e-statements, a new Consumer Products for our customers. Over time, you could even have the chance to work with Citizens Financial Group (USA), RBS Europe and RBS Middle East.

Contribute from the word go
The path you follow will be in your hands. But wherever you work, you’ll be seen as an integral part of the team. Over the two years of the programme, you’ll work on a number of high profile brands throughout all stages of product development and marketing. You can also to expect to gain a Chartered Institute of Management qualification along with all the key marketing skills you need to make an informed career choice at the end of the programme.

What we’ll be looking for
A Marketing degree would be helpful but it’s certainly not essential. Far more important are your excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be working with a number of different people at all levels, from junior staff through to our senior executive and from customers through to external suppliers. We’ll also be looking for plenty of energy, a real passion for marketing, a flexible approach and a commitment to learning new things so you can achieve great results.
