Delivering the most exceptional service
Private Banking looks after the financial affairs of our wealthiest and most high profile customers. It’s an incredibly diverse client base ranging from lottery winners and celebrities to entrepreneurs. Our customers expect the highest standards of service, precise answers and quick actions, and we go out of our way to make sure that’s exactly what they get. This is an exciting time to join our team – the global economic climate not only means that RBS is evolving, Private Banking customers are relying on our expertise more than ever before.

A rotational programme
This is a two year programme and you’ll move offices a number of times during your first few placements. The first year of the programme will see you supporting customers over the phone and helping the Private Banking Manager. In your second year, the focus is much more on face-to-face meetings and you’ll have the chance to manage your own portfolio of clients. Throughout, you can expect to gain a broad overview of the Private Banking structure and the variety of products we offer.

A bright future
The scheme offers a fantastic opportunity for you to move around the different areas of Personal Banking and you’ll be given a great deal of freedom to drive your own development. We’ll also support you in gaining a professional accreditation – you’ll have the chance to achieve CFP certification – making this the perfect platform from which to build a career in personal financial advice.

All sorts of challenges

In Private Banking, every day really is different. As well as dealing with all sorts of different customers, you’ll have the chance to get involved in project work. It could be that you’re devising an incentive to promote a service or that you’re coming up with a new customer contact strategy. If you have a specific area of interest, we’ll do our best to find a project that will enable you to pursue it. Throughout, we’ll expect you to look at how we can do things even better – to be a fresh pair of eyes.

A professional but personable culture
Ours is a very performance driven environment and the challenges will be constant. But at the same time we have a very friendly culture. Your colleagues will be very open about their opinions and will always be on hand to give you help and advice.

The qualities you’ll need to bring
You don’t need any experience to join us but if you’ve worked in a customer facing role before, that would be ideal. You’ll certainly have the kind of people and communication skills that will enable you to build a strong rapport with your clients, offer a personal level service and manage the relationship effectively. We’ll also be looking for strong team working skills and a positive, can-do approach.
